Research Interests
Dr. Pasinski does not currently have a research lab.
As a cognitive neuroscientist, Amanda Pasinski is interested in the neural correlates of sensation and perception as well as broader cognitive topics like music and language. Their early research used electroencephalography (EEG) to explore auditory perception abnormalities in individuals with schizophrenia, as well as the perception of musical rhythm in healthy individuals.
Their recent research has focused on music video games like Rock Band: do people who play music video games have similar musical perception skills as those who play traditional musical instruments? What (if any) benefits are conferred from music video game play? Are any of these skills transferable?
You can find Dr. Pasinski’s peer-reviewed research here.
Psychology Club and Psi Chi International Honor Society
If you’re interested in psychology in general, or in furthering education or careers in psychology, you may want to join Psychology Club or Psi Chi. Both clubs host a number of events together.

Interested in Issues of Neurodiversity?
Dr. Pasinski is currently gauging student interest in a registered student organization that focuses on the needs of neurodivergent students (including ADHD, autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and others). This club would be a safe place to learn about neurodiversity, and to provide information to neurodivergent students on how to navigate the complex world of neurotypical academia.
If you’re interested in joining or helping running such a club, feel free to email amanda.pasinski@unlv.edu.
